Limes reaches Ready-to-Build on first Chile project: BESS Huañil (200 MW). Global fully authorised pipeline now 600+ MWp

Santiago, Chile / Milan, Italy – 12 August, 2026. Limes Renewable Energy (Limes), a global developer specialising in solar, wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, has brought its BESS Huañil project (200 MW) to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status in Chile's Coquimbo region. This is Limes' first RTB milestone in Chile and its first RTB outside of Italy and the latest step in the group's international growth strategy.

Located in the municipality of Salamanca, in the Coquimbo region, BESS Huañil will store energy from the National Electric System (SEN) with a capacity of up to 1,000 MWh, allowing a constant injection of 200 MW for up to five hours. The project represents an estimated total investment of around US$188 million.

Since November 2025, Limes has secured three environmental approvals in Chile: BESS Huañil (200 MW), Pradera Larga (84 MWp solar PV + 90 MW BESS), and BESS Ganso (150 MW). BESS Huañil is the first of the three to reach RTB, with the other two advancing and nearing the same stage. The company's Chilean pipeline continues to expand and includes approximately 180 MWp of solar PV and 620 MW of BESS, strengthening the country's storage backbone.

Limes will now focus on the post-RTB phase, in particular revenue structuring aligned with project finance criteria, targeting robust installed capacity growth over the coming years. The maturing pipeline anchors Limes' growth strategy in Chile, built on the company's project development and financial structuring expertise.

Martin Libra, Limes Head of LATAM, commented: "Bringing our first Chilean project to Ready-to-Build is a defining moment for us in the region, and one that reflects years of disciplined groundwork. It's the mindset behind everything we develop: high-quality, bankable, grid-ready projects built for the long term, not just permitted on paper. With our pipeline maturing and two more projects moving towards RTB, we are well positioned to advance the strategic partnerships that will define our next phase of growth in Chile."

Cristiano Spillati, Managing Director of Limes, commented: "Reaching RTB for BESS Huañil reaffirms our long-term commitment to Chile and reflects our local-international model as a global developer firmly rooted in its local markets. Building on the track record we have established over many years in Italy, and with a global RTB pipeline now above 600 MWp, we’re well placed to pursue our vision of becoming an Independent Power Producer."

Building on its proven track record, consolidated in Italy, Limes' home market, this milestone is fully aligned with Limes' vision of becoming a hybrid Independent Power Producer (IPP), focusing on strategic partnerships and PPA negotiations as projects reach RTB stage. Between Chile and Italy, Limes' fully authorised and RTB pipeline is over 600 MWp across two continents. In Italy, Limes has reached over 400 MWp across 25 projects, with a further 120 MW across six solar projects on track for authorisation before year-end.
