PV Magazine - Limes sells 150 MW of photovoltaic projects in Italy

The plants, the company told pv magazine Italia, are located in Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata and Sicily.

Limes Renewable Energy, a Milan-based developer of renewable energy projects, has sold nine photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of approximately 150 MW, of which 50 MW has already been authorised.

The project portfolio, the company told pv magazine Italia, consists mainly of ground-mounted agrivoltaic plants with single-axis trackers and traditional ground-mounted photovoltaic plants. They are located in Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata and Sicily.

Limes will continue to support the development of unauthorised projects until they are ready to build, assisting the international independent power producer (IPP) to which it sold them in finalising the authorisations.

The first project, Limes told pv magazine Italia, could become operational by the end of 2026, while the remaining plants will come online between 2027 and 2028.

The sale of the photovoltaic plants is part of a larger transaction totalling 287 MW, which also includes several wind projects. Once operational, the portfolio will generate approximately 669 GWh per year. With this transaction, Limes exceeds 850 MW of assets sold to institutional investors globally.

To date, Limes says it has brought 17 ground-mounted photovoltaic projects totalling 275 MW to the ready-to-build stage and expects another 100-150 MW to reach this stage in the next 12 months.
